of the NYLA Magazine
staff attended the 1st UCOP Southern California
Professional Development Seminar for Journalists and Media at
UCLA. Hosted by the University of California Office of the President,
the all-day seminar included several workshops conducted by
NBC News anchor Beverly White, renowned UC Berkeley Graduate School
of Journalism Chair Susan Rasky, Professor Frances Olsen of
the UCLA School of Law, and Telemundo-52 television news
anchor Maria Garcia.

music videos from Shadmehr Aghili ("Popcorn") and
Kamran & Hooman ("20") are added to the popular
videos section.
Director Alec Cartio (atlantispictures.com) signs exclusive
deal with NYLA Magazine
to debut his latest music videos on NYLA
Magazine Online.
Currently, Cartio is directing two new music videos for Iranian
music legend Ebi.

editorial staff interview live on the Channel One network's
most popular primetime show, "Green Time." Channel
One TV is a prominent global satellite network that is seen
daily by millions of viewers from the U.S., Europe, Asia, the
Middle East, Australia, Canada, South America and Canada. NYLA
Contributing writers Shayaun Ashtiani, Giselle
Cohen, Marcel Farrokhi, Mehrbod Rastegar and Ehsan Sarabi were

9, 2005 - More than 1,500 people attended
the sold-out NYLA Magazine
Launch Party
at the Henry Fonda Theater/Music Box in Hollywood, California.
The event included a special performance by Warner Music artist
Arash featuring Rebecca, as well as appearances by celebrity
guests Kanye West, Petey Pablo, National Product, Antonio Leon,
Kamyar of the Black Cats and more. A portion of the event's
proceeds were donated to the American Red Cross/Hurricane
Katrina Relief Fund (redcross.org).
